MISSION OF HUMANISTIC CULTURE

   Documentary Team

Since the foundation in 1966, TZU CHI Foundation has published many periodicals, such as the Tzu Chi Monthly Magazine, Rhythm Magazine, and the Tzu Chi US Journals, etc. These publications documented heart-warming and inspiring stories of benevolent deeds around the world. They also serve as regular activity reports of the Foundation's charity efforts for our donors and supporters.

The documentary team is dedicated to document Tzu Chi's charity efforts and those life-changing stories revolved around it. By sharing these stories full of "genuineness, kindness, and beauty" through various media channels, we wish to touch and inspire the audience, spread the spirit of goodness, and create a positive influence in the society.

The TZU CHI documentary team integrates three different forms of media -- articles, photography, and video -- called the "3-in-1." Since TZU CHI Foundation Canada established in 1992, there has been over a hundred volunteers participated in the documentary team. Master Cheng Yen said, "what we do today will become tomorrow's history." The documentary team is dedicated to record the history of the TZU CHI Foundation's charity efforts as well as the stories happen around the world that evidence the beauty of humanity.

Buddha Day · Mother’s Day · Tzu Chi Day Celebration

In 1999, the United Nations designated the full moon day of May as Vesak Day, in recognition of Buddhism’s over 2,500 years of contribution to humanity. Each May, Tzu Chi Canada, in unison with Tzu Chi chapters around the world, commemorates this special time through a Buddha Bathing Ceremony, honoring the grace of the Buddha, the love of parents, and the kindness of all beings.

This meaningful observance coincides with Mother’s Day, creating a heartfelt occasion for gratitude and reflection. The ceremony includes the solemn offerings of light and fragrant water, symbolizing purification of the heart, cultivation of inner virtues, and the planting of wholesome seeds within. Together, we share in this moment of spiritual joy and collective blessings.

Tomb-Sweeping Festival Memorial & Gratitude Ceremony

For those living far from their homeland, traditional festivals often evoke a deeper longing for loved ones. To provide overseas Chinese with a heartfelt space to express filial piety during the Qingming season, Tzu Chi Canada offers a warm and dignified setting for remembrance and reverence.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, participants devoutly recite the Preface to the Lotus Sutra, guiding the heart into the profound Dharma realm. Together, we honor the virtues and legacy of our ancestors, expressing deep gratitude for their guidance and grace.

We sincerely invite families in the Chinese community to join us in this meaningful gathering of remembrance and spiritual reflection.
